Tidewater adds your default tax rate to every new invoice. You can change that default at any time, or set a different rate for a single client. Changes apply to invoices you create from now on.

Change the default rate

  1. 1Open Settings and select Taxes.
  2. 2Under Default tax rate, select Edit.
  3. 3Enter the new rate, for example 21%, and give it the name your clients should see on the invoice, such as VAT.
  4. 4Select Save rate. The next invoice you create uses the new rate.
The Default tax rate field in Settings, Taxes.

Set a rate for one client

Some clients need a different rate, for example a business in another EU country. Open the client, select Tax settings and choose a rate. Tidewater uses it for that client only and keeps your default for everyone else.

Fix an invoice you already sent

If an invoice PDF shows the wrong tax rate, open the invoice and select Issue corrected invoice. Tidewater creates a credit note for the original and a new invoice at the right rate, and sends both to your client.
